Dear Members,

As you probably know, the WLA holds its Convention and Trade Show only every second year and that for the last 4 years, the WLA’s policy is to join a Regional Association’s Convention on the alternate years. In 2009, WLA has the honour of joining the 12th Cibelae Congress to bring you “World Meet 2009”. The event will be held from October 26-28, 2009, in Santiago de Chile and hosted by Polla Chilena de Beneficiencia.

The Convention theme, “A New World” is fitting in many ways, not only is Chile a “new world” country, but the lottery industry is also, because of the new challenges and changing landscape it must address, facing a “new world”.

Chile, located in the western coast of South America is a modern flourishing country of 16 million that enjoys a stable, open-market economy and safe environment. It is a country of friendly people who like to welcome foreign visitors. It is a long strip of land with varied territories including the Atacama desert in the far north, with ancestral archaeological wealth; a central zone plentiful of fruit trees and vineyards that produce excellent wines famous worldwide; a southern zone where beautiful volcanoes that give origin to spectacular lakes and landscapes, turbulent rivers that attract fishing and rafting fanatics; and in the southernmost end of the country, the Patagonia, a zone with abundant glaciers and breathtaking mountains like Torres and Cuernos del Paine, which constitute an unforgettable sight to all those who visit them.

Cibelae, WLA and Polla Chilena de Beneficencia are committed to ensuring that “World Meet 2009” is an absolute success.
